Paper Mill Playhouse is set to host an invite-only, industry reading of Paul Slade Smith’s The Outsider this March in New York City. Don Stephenson (Titanic at Lincoln Center) directs.

Leading the cast will be Kelsey Grammer (Finding Neverland), Rob McClure (Noises Off), and Lenny Wolpe (The Drowsy Chaperone). They will be joined by Erin Noel Grennan (Chicago Med), Lisa O’Hare (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder), Kristen Sieh (RoosevElvis), and Steve Rosen (Guys and Dolls).

A look at modern American politics, The Outsider follows Ned Newley (Wolpe), who doesn't even want to be governor. To his ever-supportive chief of staff (McClure), Ned seems destined to fail, but a political guru named Arthur Vance (Grammer) sees things a little differently.

Playwright Paul Slade Smith is currently appearing on Broadway in Finding Neverland. His play Unnecessary Farce has been produced in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, Singapore, Iceland, and Switzerland.
