The world premiere of Charles Messina's A Room of My Own celebrated its opening night at the June Havoc Theatre on February 25.

Directed by Messina, the play is a semiautobiographical work in which Messina recounts growing up in an eccentric Italian-American family in Greenwich Village. Ralph Macchio (The Karate Kid) stars as Carl Morelli, a writer reminiscing about his adolescence in the cramped apartment that he shared with his family, alongside Mario Cantone (Steve), who plays his flamboyant Uncle Jackie.

Completing the company are Nico Bustamante as 10-year old Carl, Kendra Jain (New Year's Eve) as Jeannie Morelli, Johnny Tammaro (Tony n' Tina's Wedding) as Peter Morelli, Joli Tribuzio (Tony n' Tina's Wedding) as Dotty Morelli, and Liza Vann (The Road to Damascus) as Aunt Jean.

Performances are set to run through March 13.
