Life Jacket Theater’s docu-play runs through February 24.

Life Jacket Theatre Company's America Is Hard to See recently opened at HERE. Travis Russ directs the new play with music and lyrics by Priscilla Holbrook. Russ also contributed music and scenic design. Performances continue through February 24.

Using a blend of interviews, archival research, Methodist hymns, and original songs, America Is Hard to See investigates the lives in and around Miracle Village, a rural community for sex offenders buried deep in Florida's sugarcane fields.

Featured in the cast are Ken Barnett, John Carlin, Joyce Cohen, Amy Gaither Hayes, David Spadora, and Gareth Tidball. Research and development for America Is Hard to See is by Russ, Anthony Dvarskas, and Amelia Parenteau. Lighting design is by Solomon Weisbard, with costume design is by Andrea Hood.
