Beth Behrs, the star of CBS' 2 Broke Girls, will star in the MCC world premiere of Halley Feiffer's comedy A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynelogic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of New York. Behrs makes her New York stage debut in the production, which will also feature Lisa Emery (Casa Valentina) and Jacqueline Sydney. Performances will begin May 19 in advance of a June 7 opening at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

Directed by Trip Cullman, the show is described as follows: "A foul-mouthed twentysomething comedian and a middle-aged man embroiled in a nasty divorce are brought together unexpectedly when their cancer-stricken mothers become roommates in the hospital. Together, this unlikely duo must negotiate some of life’s biggest challenges…while making some of the world’s most inappropriate jokes. Can these two very lost people learn to laugh through their pain and lean on each other when all they really want to do is run away?"

The design team for A Funny Thing Happened… includes sets by Lauren Helpern, costumes by Kaye Voyce, lighting by Matthews Richards, and sound by Tony winner Darron L West.

Behrs is currently in her fifth season as Caroline Channing in 2 Broke Girls. Her film credits include the indie comedy Hello, My Name Is Doris opposite Sally Field, and the voice of Carrie Williams in Walt Disney Pixar’s animated film Monsters University. She also performed with the New York Philharmonic for its 2012 New Year’s Eve performance One Singular Sensation: Celebrating Marvin Hamlisch.
