Connor Sampson's Parading the Noose to Receive Primary Stages Reading

The play is the recipient of the Jeffry Melnick New Playwriting Award.

Primary Stages will present a reading of Connor Sampson's Parading the Noose, a new work that is the recipient of the inaugural Jeffry Melnick New Playwright Award. It will take place April 24 at the Cherry Lane Theatre, directed by Hondo Weiss-Richmond.

The cast will feature Sean Mellot as Ethan, Catherine Curtin as Patricia, Jon Norman Schneider as Daniel, and Craig Mungavin as Horse/EMT/Passenger. Gabrielle Aryana Beans will provide stage directions.

The Jeffry Melnick New Playwright Award is given to worthy playwrights who have yet to receive a major production of their work. The other finalists for this year’s award included S.P. Monahan and Fielding Edlow. Those involved in the selection process included Lee Blessing, Charles Busch, Katrin Hilbe, Daryl Roth, and Janet Reed.
