Taye Diggs and Jenny Parsinen will choreograph a benefit workshop of Keenan Scott II’s Thoughts of a Colored Man on a Day When the Sun Set Too Early, February 4-6, at Royal Family Performing Arts Space. Chris Henry directs.

Thoughts of a Colored Man… follows the stories of eight young men as they try to find their identity in a world that told them they should conform. With the use of poetry and prose style monologues using vernacular that arose from the hip-hop generation this play provides a raw view of heart wrenching subjects that plague us all.

The cast is made up of Edwin Brown III, Edmond Cofie, Perikles Mandinga, Chris Marshall, Tyquan Payne, Keenan Scott II, Will Strong, Anthony Walker, Kasaun Wilson, Brian Moreland, Madison McFerrin, Amy Romero, and Kessie Brawner.

The creative team includes Paul Smithyman (set designer), Burke Brown (lighting designer), Skye Charlie (costume designer), Lars Jacobsen (music coordinator), and Jessica Wu (dramaturg).
