The off-Broadway premiere of Miranda Theatre Company's They Promised Her the Moon is currently in rehearsal. Laurel Ollstein's They Promised Her the Moon is the true story of Jerrie Cobb who narrowly missed being the first female astronaut. Cobb — who was part of the secret female astronaut-testing project, now known as Mercury 13 — and the famed pilot who funded the project, Jackie Cochran, found themselves confronting both societal and less obvious, more personal roadblocks in their quest to reach the stars. Valentina Fratti directs.

Amanda Quaid stars as Jerrie Cobb and Andrus Nichols as Jackie Cochran. Also featured in the cast are Edmund Lewis, Drew Ledbetter, Patricia Randell, and John Leonard Thompson.

The creative team includes Graham Kindred (scenic and lighting design), Tristan Raines (costume design) and Margaret Montagna (sound design). Ernie Fimbres is the production stage manager.
