Post-Performance Talk Set for New York Theatre Workshop's Nat Turner in Jerusalem

The new play is written by Nathan Alan Davis.

New York Theatre Workshop will host a talkback following the Sunday, October 2 evening performance of Nathan Alan Davis' Nat Turner in Jerusalem. The conversation will be titled "…And Justice for All?"

Directed by Megan Sandberg-Zakian, the production stars Phillip James Brannon (Bootycandy) as Nat Turner and Rowan Vickers (The Sensuality Party) as Thomas R. Gray. The production features scenic design by Susan Zeeman Rogers, costume design by Montana Blanco, lighting design by Mary Louise Geiger, sound design by Nathan Leigh, fight direction by Thomas Schall, and dialect coaching by Dawn Elin-Fraser.

The discussion will be moderated by journalist Katti Gray, who will be joined by Rev. Anthony L. Trufant (senior pastor, Emmanuel Baptist Church in Brooklyn), Angel Harris (Esq. Counsel, NAACP Legal Defense Fund), Jonathan McCrory (director of Theatre Programs, National Black Theatre), Rev. Dr. Gail Davis (associate minister, Berean Baptist Church), and Esmeralda Simmons (founding director, Center for Law and Social Justice at Medgar Evers College). Panelists will discuss current social justice movements and how those movements connect with the themes of the journey to justice illuminated in the play.
