MCC Theater celebrated the opening night of its off-Broadway production of Ride the Cyclone on November 30 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, where it is set to run through December 18.

The third musical in MCC's 30-year history, Ride the Cyclone has book, music, and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell. Rachel Rockwell directs the production, which features original Chicago cast members Tiffany Tatreau, Lillian Castillo, Karl Hamilton, Emily Rohm, and Kholby Wardell. Alex Wyse (Deaf West's Spring Awakening), Gus Halper (Goat), Johnny Newcomb (The Last Ship), and Emily Walton (Peter and the Starcatcher) complete the ensemble.

Having made its U.S. premiere in 2015 at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Ride the Cyclone is described as follows: "The Saint Cassian High School Chamber Choir will board the Cyclone roller coaster at 8:17pm. At 8:19 the front axle will break, sending them to their tragic demise. A mechanical fortune teller invites each to tell the story of a life interrupted — with the promise of a prize like no other."
