Same-Sex Oklahoma! to Play Oregon Shakespeare Festival

The Ashland-based theater has announced its 2018 lineup.

Oregon Shakespeare Festival has announced its 2018 season, which includes a new look at the classic musical Oklahoma! featuring same-sex couples.

The 2018 season's Shakespeare offerings include Othello directed by Bill Rauch in the Angus Bowmer Theatre, Henry IV directed by Rosa Joshi in the Thomas Theatre, Romeo and Juliet directed by Dámaso Rodríguez, and Love’s Labor’s Lost directed by Amanda Dehnert in the Allen Elizabethan Theatre.

The Angus Bowmer Theatre season includes Kate Hamill's Sense and Sensibility directed by Hana S. Sharif, Karen Zacarías' Destiny of Desire directed by José Luis Valenzuela, and Snow in Midsummer by Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig. The theater will also house Oklahoma!, directed by Bill Rauch.

In the Thomas Theatre, Manhatta, written by Mary Kathryn Nagle and directed by Laurie Woolery, and Idris Goodwin's The Way the Mountain Moved, directed by May Adrales, will be seen. The season in the Allen Elizabethan Theatre also includes Lauren Gunderson's The Book of Will directed by Christopher Liam Moore.
