The Public Theater has announced a new date for the official press opening of George Brant’s Grounded, starring Oscar winner Anne Hathaway. The production, which begins previews on April 7 at the Anspacher Theatre, will now officially open on April 26 and run through May 17. Two-time Tony Award winner Julie Taymor directs.

Grounded tells the story of an ace fighter pilot whose unexpected pregnancy forces her to leave her airborne career in favor of one operating military drones from a windowless trailer outside the Las Vegas desert. The play had its New York premiere in 2013 at Walkerspace via Page 73 Productions. That staging starred Hannah Cabell and was directed by Ken Rus Schmoll.

The production marks Hathaway first return to the Public since her performance as Viola in the 2009 Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night.

Grounded's creative teams features scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, lighting design by Christopher Akerlind, sound design by Will Pickens, projection design by Peter Nigrini, and original music and soundscapes by Elliot Goldenthal.
