Second Stage Takes Us Behind the Scenes of Torch Song Photo Shoot

Michael Urie and Mercedes Ruehl will star in a revival of Harvey Fierstein’s 1982 drama, directed by Moisés Kaufman.

Second Stage Theater released a video taking us behind the scenes of an ad photo shoot for the upcoming revival of Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song. Featured in the video are stars Michael Urie (as Arnold Beckoff) and Mercedes Ruehl (as Ma), and the production's director, Moisés Kaufman. Check out the video below.

Urie and Ruehl will be joined by Jack DiFalco as David, Ward Horton as Ed, Roxanna Hope Radja as Laurel, and Michael Rosen as Alan. Torch Song will feature scenic design by David Zinn, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting design by David Lander, and sound design by Fitz Patton. Torch Song will begin previews September 26 in advance of an October 19 opening at the Tony Kiser Theater.

A collection of three plays, Torch Song Trilogy opened on Broadway at the Little Theatre (now the Helen Hayes) on June 10, 1982, where it enjoyed a groundbreaking run, earning Tony Awards for Best Play and Best Actor in a Play (Fierstein) and running for 1,222 performances, closing on May 19, 1985. Before its move to Broadway, Torch Song Trilogy ran off-Broadway at the Richard Allen Center, produced by the Glines, and also at La MaMa and the Actors' Playhouse.
