59E59 Theaters has added the U.S. premiere of Terms of Endearment to its fall roster, scheduling an October 29-December 11 run. The production replaces the previously announced Madame La Gimp, which has been postponed.

Written by Dan Gordon, the play is based on the book by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Larry McMurtry and the Oscar-winning screenplay by James L. Brooks. The story traces the relationship between a highly opinionated mother and her feisty daughter as they seek to find humor and courage in the face of life’s challenges.

The 1983 film famously starred Shirley MacLaine, Jack Nicholson, Debra Winger, Jeff Daniels, and John Lithgow. The stage adaptation is directed by Michael Parva and produced by the Directors Company, Julian Schlossberg, and Roy Furman in association with Invictus Theater Company and GR8 Theatricals.

Casting and opening-night details will be announced soon.
