Before its final performance at the Theater Center, The Fantasticks author and director Tom Jones will restage the number "Round and Round" to reflect a darker tone than the one on display for the past 57 years.

"The mask, not unlike the Red Shoes, has a darker purpose or power, if you will," Jones said in a statement. "I want the feeling of a masked ball that becomes more and more grotesque as Luisa inhabits this world for the first time." The restaged number, with dialogue and lyric changes, will be put into the show on May 16.

Featuring music by Harvey Schmidt and book, lyrics, and direction by Tom Jones, The Fantasticks follows a boy and girl who fall in love and then quickly grow apart. The score includes hit songs such as "Try to Remember," "Soon It's Gonna Rain," and "They Were You." It plays its final performance on June 4.
