The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical to Receive Cast Album

The musical is inspired by the book series by Rick Riordan.

The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical will be recorded by Broadway Records for a new cast album to be released on Friday, June 30. The album is produced by Michael Croiter and Rob Rokicki, and executive-produced by Van Dean.

The new musical is written by Joe Tracz (Netflix Series of Unfortunate Events) and Rob Rokicki (Strange Tails) and directed by Stephen Brackett (Buyer and Cellar). Musical direction is by Wiley DeWeese (The Wildness) with orchestrations by Wiley DeWeese and Rob Rokicki. Performances continue through May 6 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

Based on the best-selling Disney-Hyperion novel The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, the play is described as follows, "Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can’t control, has monsters on his trail, and is on a quest to find Zeus’s lightning bolt and prevent a war between the Greek gods. Normal is a myth when you’re a demigod. Based on the best-selling Disney-Hyperion novel by Rick Riordan, featuring live music, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is an action-packed theatrical adventure that will rock your world."

Chris McCarrell (Les Misérables) leads the cast as Percy Jackson. He is joined by Carrie Compere (The Color Purple) as Sally, Sarah Beth Pfeifer (Legally Blonde: The Musical) and Clarisse, Jonathan Raviv (The Band’s Visit) as Brunner, James Hayden Rodriguez (Spring Awakening) as Luke, George Salazar (Godspell) as Grover, and Kristin Stokes (Fly by Night) as Annabeth.

The creative team includes Patrick McCollum (choreography), Lee Savage (set design), Sydney Maresca (costume design), Ryan Rumery (sound design), David Lander (lighting design), and Rod Kinter (fight direction).
