The Drama Desk Award-nominated The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical will embark on a national tour in the fall of 2018, producers have announced. The cast and performance schedule will be announced in the coming months.

The new musical is written by Joe Tracz and Rob Rokicki and directed by Stephen Brackett (Buyer & Cellar). Musical direction is by Wiley DeWeese with orchestrations by DeWeese and Rokicki. The musical debuted earlier this year at the Lucille Lortel Theatre and was nominated for several 2017 Drama Desk Awards.

Based on the best-selling Disney-Hyperion novel The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, the play is described as follows: "Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can’t control, has monsters on his trail, and is on a quest to find Zeus’s lightning bolt and prevent a war between the Greek gods. Normal is a myth when you’re a demigod."

The creative team includes Patrick McCullum (choreography), Lee Savage (set design), Sydney Maresca (costume design), Ryan Rumery (sound design), David Lander (lighting design), and Rod Kinter (fight direction).
