Luis Alfaro’s adaptation of ”Oedipus Rex” is directed by Chay Yew at the Public Theater.

Juan Castano stars as the title character in Luis Alfaro's Oedipus El Rey, a new adaptation of Oedipus Rex directed by Chay Yew at the Public Theater. Presented in collaboration with the Sol Project, the show is set in South Central Los Angeles, where "Oedipus is reimagined as a troubled Latino whose dreams of controlling his own destiny soar above the barbed wire of the prison where he's spent his life."

Watch Castano, along with costars Sandra Delgado (Jocasta), Julio Monge (Tiresias, Coro), Joel Perez (Creon, Coro), Brian Quijada (Coro), Reza Salazar (Coro), and Juan Francisco Villa (Laius, Coro), in this "electrifying new take on the Greek tragedy" in new footage from the production below:

Oedipus El Rey is set to run through November 19.
