The York Theatre Company has announced the lineup for its 47th-anniversary season, to be presented at York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's.

The 2016-2017 season will include the New York premieres of the new musicals A Taste of Things to Come and Emma. The Musicals in Mufti Series, which reexamines musicals from the past, will include Milk and Honey, Dear World, and a third to be announced shortly. And, the return of the New2NY Series will bring two new musicals: How to Be an American! and Mark Felt, Superstar.

The first mainstage production of the season will be the New York premiere of the musical A Taste of Things to Come (November 9-December 11), with book, music, and lyrics by Debra Barsha and Hollye Levin, and an original concept by Hollye Levin, and direction and choreography by Lorin Latarro. The show takes place in 1950s Winnetka, Illinois, where four women enter a Betty Crocker cooking contest in the hopes of changing their lives.

Continuing the mainstage season will be with the New York premiere of Emma (April 25-May 28), a musical romance, with music, lyrics, and book by Paul Gordon (Daddy Long Legs), adapted from the novel by Jane Austen. Emma follows Emma Woodhouse, whose matchmaking mischief inevitably misfires.

The Musicals in Mufti Series, which presents "simply staged concert readings of musical-theater gems from the past," will include Milk and Honey (January 28-February 5), with a book by Don Appell and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman; Dear World (February 25-March 5), with book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman; and a third production to be announced shortly that is set to play February 11-19.

New2NY Series productions How to Be an American! and Mark Felt, Superstar will play September 17-September 25 and January 2017, respectively.

Special events throughout the season will include The 25th Annual Oscar Hammerstein Award Gala; the second annual Winter Intensive for College Students, part of The York’s Musical Theatre Training Program; a benefit Spring Concert Celebration Honoring James Morgan, commemorating his 20th Anniversary as York Producing Artistic Director; the Developmental Reading Series, and more. The York will also present the Marymount Manhattan College production of the musical Love’s Labour’s Lost.
