LGBT Activists and Organizers Liz Bradbury, Adrian Shanker, and Stephen Libby to Perform in Civic Theatre’s Reading of 8

Civic Theatre of Allentown is to present a one-night-only reading of Dustin Lance Black‘s 8, September 8 at 8pm at Civic Theatre’s 19th Street Theatre. Artistic director William Sanders will direct.

8 chronicles the challenge to California’s Proposition 8 and shines a light on the importance of marriage equality. The story is framed by the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Perry v. Brown), the case filed by AFER to overturn Proposition 8, and its historic closing arguments in June 2010.

The cast will feature Liz Bradbury, executive director of the Pennsylvania Diversity Network; Adrian Shanker, president of Equality Pennsylvania; and Stephen Libby, Lehigh Valley LGBT activist as well as Matthew Hogam, Aidan Nuell, JoAnn Basist, Bill Joachim, Will Morris, Josh Neth, Melisa Klausner, Tesia Nicoli, Will Windsor Erwin, Gary Gaughler, Sharon Lee Glassman, Barry Glassman, Sue Sneeringer, Troy Brokenshire, Jason Sizemore, Justin Brehm, Troy Brokenshire, and Mike Febbo.

Proceeds will benefit The Pennsylvania Diversity Network.
