Bucks County Playhouse will present its second Oscar Hammerstein Festival from April 29-May 1 at the New Hope theater. The festival commemorates the work of the famed lyricist and celebrates the importance of lyrics in the creation of new musicals.

The weekend of events kicks off on Friday, April 29, with New Songwriters Tonight!, an evening of new work focusing on the award-winning, rising musical theater writer Adam Gwon (Ordinary Days, String, Cake Off). Featuring a cast of Broadway singers, the evening will showcase new songs and the writer’s take on how musicals are created, as well as a sneak peek at a future Bucks County Playhouse production.

On Saturday, April 30, the theater will host a benefit concert titled Don’t Ever Leave Me: The Love Songs of Oscar Hammerstein II. Created and hosted by Ted Chapin, head of Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, the concert will feature performances by Victoria Clark, Laura Osnes, and Santino Fontana — the original stars of Rodgers Hammerstein's Cinderella on Broadway — along with fellow Broadway veteran Lewis Cleale (The Book of Mormon). Sarna Lapine directs, with music direction by Andy Einhorn.

Additional seminars and a farewell brunch on Sunday at the historic home of producing director Alexander Fraser will round out the festival.
