A new musical adaptation of Richard Matheson’s novel Somewhere in Time will receive its world premiere at Portland Center Stage beginning previews May 28, 2013 with opening night set for May 31. Scott Schwartz will helm the tuner, featuring a book by Ken Davenport, music by Doug Katsaros, and lyrics by Amanda Yesnowitz.

The show, which will also draw inspiration from the 1980 film version starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, centers on a young playwright who embarks upon a journey through time to discover a powerful but perhaps impossible love.

The design team will include set designer Alexander Dodge and costume designer Jeff Cone. Casting will be announced at a later date.

Schwartz directed the Broadway productions of Golda’s Balcony and Jane Eyre. He received Lucille Lortel and Outer Critics Circle Awards for his direction of Bat Boy: the Musical, and an Outer Critics Award for helming tick, tick…BOOM!
