Tony Winner Daisy Eagan Set to Begin Performances in Margaret Edson’s Wit

North Carolina Theatre’s production of Wit starts performances this evening at AJ Fletcher Opera Theater.
Using some of her own experiences with a hospital as inspiration, playwright Margaret Edson’s tells the story of Vivian Bearing, Ph.D, a brilliant professor, whose newest lesson is how to be a patient. After being diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer and agreeing to undergo experimental treatment, she is forced to reexamine her work and life. As an English professor studying John Donne her approach was one of intense rationality and tenacious research and questioning. As a student of life, however, she learns a profundity and humor that prove transformative.
Edson’s play is directed by Kate Galvin and stars Kate Goehring as Vivan Bearing, Ph.D and Daisy Eagan as Susie Monahan, R.N., B.S.N. Alongside Goehring and Eagan are Jo Ann Cunningham as E.M. Ashford, D.Phil, Dirk Lumbard as Harvey Kelekian, M.D./Mr. Bearing, and Logan James Hall as Jason Posner M.D., with Jess Barbour, Matthew Hager, Christopher J. Helton, and Maggie Lee rounding out the cast.

The creative team includes Chris Bernier (set design), Kimberly Genna Bryant (costume design), Charlie Morrison (lighting design), Eric Collins (sound design), Aline Johnson (props master), and Bill Yates Jr. (technical director).
Performances will run through May 8.
