North Carolina Stage Company Presents World Premiere of Brave New World: The Musical

The musical adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s classic begins performances tonight.

The world premiere of the musical Brave New World starts its run tonight at North Carolina Stage Company.

World Controller Thomas Mond’s reality is changed forever when Lenina and Bernard, two of his genetically superior citizens, disappear from their chemically engineered utopia. When they finally return from their exploration of the savage reservations, they are accompanied by a mysterious savage named John, and his even more mysterious mother, Linda. Little do Lenina and Bernard suspect that the very existence of John and Linda will upend the very basis of Controller Mond’s World Stat.

Based on the novel by Aldous Huxley, the musical has a book by Ben Andron and Grammy and Emmy Award winner John McDanie with lyrics by Tony nominee Bill Russell. The show is directed by Thomas Caruso and features Justin Sargent as Thomas Mond, Marisa O’Donnell as Lenina, Robby Haltiwanger as John, Jason Edward Cook as Bernard, and Robin Skye as Linda. They are joined by Tyler McKenzie, Billy Steeves, Kaylor Otwell, Blake Logan, Alice Eacho, Maria Buchanan, Marthaluz Valez, and Sean Michael Jaenicke.

The creative team includes Ryan Kasprzak (original choreography), Brad Simmons (musical direction), Andrew Manion (set design), C.J. Barnwell (lighting design), George Martinat (costume design), Matt Nielson (sound design), Jessica Tandy Kammerud (props master), and Aaron Price (assistant to music department).

Performances will run through June 5.
