Victor/Victoria begins performances tonight at Ocean State Theatre.

Based on the hit 1982 Academy Award-nominated Blake Edwards film, Victor/Victoria is the story of Victoria Grant, a down-on-her-luck British singer in Paris who pretends to be a man in order to become a female impersonator. Featuring music by Henry Mancini and Frank Wildhorn, lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, and a book by Edwards, Victor/Victoria's score includes "Le Jazz Hot," "You and Me," "Almost a Love Song," Trust Me," "Living in the Shadows," "Paris by Night," and "Crazy World" in one gender-bending musical.

Leading the cast is Eden Casteel (Victoria Grant) and Bill Whitehead Jr. (Carol "Toddy" Todd). They are joined by Christopher Swan (King Marchan), Kristin Wetherington (Norma Cassidy), Ben Salus ("Squash" Bernstein), David Groccia (Henri Labisse), and Brad Kirton (André Cassell). Michael James Byrne, Taavon Gamble, Heather Gault, Robert Grady, Lisa Joyce, Jeremiah Light, and Alison Russo complete the ensemble.

Ocean State Theatre producing artistic director Amiee Turner directs the production. Sebastian Goldberg is the choreographer, and Esther Zabinski is the musical director.

Performances continue through May 21.
