La Jolla Playhouse has announced plans to mount the world premiere of Up Here, a new musical comedy featuring book, music, and lyrics by Frozen's Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Up Here will be directed by Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Rocky) and will be presented as part of the 2015-16 season, with specific dates to be announced.

In Up Here, Dan is an ordinary guy whose attempts at love with Lindsay are jeopardized by his chaotic subconscious mind. The musical is described as about "moving past ourselves — and those little voices in our head — to find happiness."

A husband-and-wife team, the Lopezes are recipients of the 2014 Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Let It Go," from the Disney animated film Frozen. Robert Lopez's Broadway credits include The Book of Mormon and Avenue Q.

"Bobby Lopez, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, and Alex Timbers are the new musical theatre rock stars of this generation," said Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley in a statement. "We're tremendously excited to collaborate with them on developing this extraordinarily witty and wonderful piece."
