La Jolla Playhouse has announced the cast and creative team for its world premiere production of Miss You Like Hell, featuring book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winner Quiara Alegría Hudes (In the Heights) and music and lyrics by singer and songwriter Erin McKeown. Lear deBessonet (the Public Theater's The Odyssey) directs, with choreography by Danny Mefford (Fun Home).

The musical will star two-time Tony Award nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent) as Beatriz, along with Krystina Alabado (American Psycho) as Olivia, Cliff Bemis as Mo, Vanessa A. Jones as Legal Clerk/Waitress, David Patrick Kelly as Higgins, Julio Monge as Manuel, Olivia Oguma as Mindy, Victor Chan as Castaway, Cashae Monya as Pearl, and Kürt Norby as Officer.

Commissioned by the Playhouse and developed during the 2016 DNA New Work Series, Miss You Like Hell follows a free-spirited mother who convinces her whip-smart teenage daughter to join her on a drive across the country. Chance encounters with a motley crew of characters along the way brings them closer to understanding what sets them apart — and what connects them forever.

The creative team includes Danny Mefford, choreographer; Julie McBride, music director; Donyale Werle, scenic designer; Emilio Sosa, costume designer; Tyler Micoleau, lighting designer; and Dan Moses Schreier, sound designer.

The production has been extended by one week and will now run from October 25-December 4 in the Mandell Weiss Theatre.
