La Jolla Playhouse Announces Full Without Walls Festival Programming

A new Basil Twist puppetry piece is among the additions to the lineup for the October festival.

La Jolla Playhouse has announced the complete lineup for its third Without Walls Festival of immersive and site-based work. It will take place October 19-22 in collaboration with Horton Plaza Park, Westfield Corporation; the New Children's Museum; the San Diego Public Library; Bread & Salt and Border X Brewing; and ArtPower.

Joining the WoW lineup will be Ayesha Jordan and Charlotte Brathwaite's Shasta Geaux Pop, Lux Boreal Dance Company's 4×4 TJ Night, Optika Moderna and David Israel Reynoso's Waking La Llorona, Dylan Key and Lily Padilla's And Then You Wait, Max Robert Daily's OSLO, and Yehuda Duenyas's CVRTAIN, all of which will take place at Logan Heights's Bread & Salt; Ant Hampton and Tim Etchells's The Quiet Volume at San Diego Public Library; and Marike Splint's Among Us, a walking piece that begins at Horton Plaza Park.

In addition, award-winning puppetry artist and La Jolla Playhouse 2017 artist in residence Basil Twist will present a new 10-minute piece, Faetopia: A Faerie Flash Mob, that will run multiple times a day at the New Children's Museum on Saturday, October 21, and Sunday, October 22.

All of these productions join six previously announced WoW projects: Gob Squad's Super Night Shot at the San Diego Public Library, Mimi Lien's installation Model Home at Horton Plaza Park, Charles Mee's Under Construction: An American Masque at Bread & Salt, So Say We All's Incoming: Sex, Drugs, and Copenhagen at Border X Brewing, The Quest 3.0 at the New Children's Museum, and Trisha Brown Dance Company's In Plain Site at ArtPower's U.C. San Diego space.
