Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced that An Octoroon, originally set to close on July 23, will add six additional performances and close on July 29. Obie Award winner Branden Jacobs-Jenkins's play is making its West Coast premiere with this run.

An Octoroon is a meta-melodrama version of the antebellum play The Octoroon, written by Dion Boucicault. In the play, "Judge Peyton is dead, and his plantation Terrebonne is in financial ruins. Peyton's handsome nephew George arrives as heir apparent, and quickly falls in love with Zoe, a beautiful 'octoroon.' But the evil overseer M'Closky has other plans — for both Terrebonne and Zoe."

The cast features Afi Bijou (Minnie), Jasmine Bracey (Dido), Afua Busia (Grace), Lance Gardner (BJJ, George, M'Closky), Sydney Morton (Zoe), Lisa Quoresimo (Br'er Rabbit), Ray Porter (Playwright, Wahnotee, Lafouche), Jennifer Regan (Dora), and Amir Talai (Assistant, Pete, Paul).

The creative team includes Arnulfo Maldonado (scenic designer), Montana Blanco (costume designer), Jiyon Chang (lighting designer), and Jake Rodriguez (sound designer).
