2013 Shaw Festival to Feature Arcadia, Guys and Dolls, Major Barbara

Morris Panych will helm Somerset Maugham’s Our Betters

Canada’s Shaw Festival has announced the ten productions that will make-up its 2013 season, its 52nd year of presenting plays and musicals in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Classic plays include Oscar Wilde’s Lady Windermere’s Fan, directed by Peter Hinton; Bernard Shaw’s Major Barbara, helmed by Jackie Maxwell; and W. Somerset Maugham’s Our Betters, staged by Morris Panych.

Contemporary plays include Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia, to be directed by Eda Holmes; Brian Friel’s Faith Healer, helmed by Craig Hall; Matthew Barber’s Enchanted April, staged by Jackie Maxwell; and John Murrell’s Peace in our Time: A Comedy, an adaptation of Shaw’s Geneva, directed by Blair Williams.

Musicals on the docket include the classic Guys and Dolls, helmed by Polish director Tadeusz Bradecki, as well as the contemporary favorite The Light in the Piazza, staged by Jay Turvey.

Additionally, the popular series Lunchtime will feature Susan Glaspell’s Trifles and Eugene O’Neill’s A Wife for a Life.
