Michael Urie, Moisés Kaufman on Harvey Fierstein's "Prophetic" Torch Song

Fierstein's storied play returns to New York City at Second Stage Theatre.

Michael Urie and Moisés Kaufman say that Harvey Fierstein predicted the future when he wrote his seminal drama Torch Song Trilogy. The Tony-winning play, which tells the story of a young drag queen determined to become a husband and a father, included subject matter mostly foreign to audiences back in the 1980s. But now, as Urie prepares to star in Kaufman's Second Stage Theatre revival of the work (now simply titled Torch Song), they're recognizing that everything Fierstein had written about and hoped for has come true. It makes for a well-timed revival, and Urie, Kaufman, Fierstein, and the company sat down with TheaterMania for a timely conversation.
