From prop mix-ups to dropped lines, stories of theater gone wrong are often hilarious. But every now and then they can be terrifying. One performance of the out-of-town tryout of Curtains, for instance, was nearly curtains for the show's star, David Hyde Pierce. Fortunately, Pierce lived through the disaster and was eventually able to treat Broadway audiences to his Tony-winning portrayal of Lieutenant Frank Cioffi.
