New Photos and Video From Signature Theatre's La Cage aux Folles
Signature Theatre has released new video and photos from its production of La Cage aux Folles, starring Chicago veteran Brent Barrett. Signature associate artistic director Matthew Gardiner is directing and choreographing the currently running musical, which is set to play through July 10 in Signature's MAX Theatre.
With an iconic score by Jerry Herman, featuring "I Am What I Am" and "The Best of Times," and a book by Harvey Fierstein, La Cage aux Folles follows the 20-year relationship between Albin, the lead drag performer of the Saint-Tropez Night Club on the French Riviera, and Georges, the club's owner. Georges faces a test when their son announces his engagement to the daughter of ultraconservative political parents.
Barrett takes on the role of Georges along side Bobby Smith as Albin. The pair are joined in the cast by Jessica Lauren Ball as Anne Dindon, Michael Bunce as Francis, Sherri L. Edelen as Marie Dindon/Mme Renaud, Mitchell Hébert as Monsieur Dindon/Mr. Renaud, Nova Y. Payton as Jacqueline, DJ Petrosino as Jacob, and Paul Scanlan as Jean Michel. The Cagelles will feature Sam Brackley, Darius Delk, Ethan Kasnett, Isaiah W. Young, Phil Young, and Jay Westin.
The creative team includes musical direction by Darius Smith, scenic design by Lee Savage, costume design by Frank Labovitz, lighting design by Jason Lyons, and sound design by Lane Elms.
