Imagination Stage‘s Just Think! Creativity is Possibility 2012 Gala will be held on Saturday October 20 at the company’s theater. The purpose of the gala is to spotlight creativity and provide an occasion to celebrate and honor those who ignite young imaginations. This year’s honoree is Mario Bonds of The Glee Project.

Bonds is a singer/songwriter who recently received his “big break” when he auditioned for Oxygen’s popular television program. Leading up to that moment, his life had been thrown many curve balls, including abandonment, abuse, homelessness, and going completely blind at the age of nine. Despite these obstacles, he never lost his drive to perform and has become an accomplished singer, actor, dancer, and musician.

The gala performance, directed by Kathryn Chase Bryer, follows the character James, from James and the Giant Peach, as he learns of the power of creativity from the many characters in the Imagination Stage 2012-2013 professional theatre season. The show features Imagination Stage professionals Erika Rose, Kevin McAllister, Matt Anderson, and Gillian Shelley, alongside 30 Imagination Stage students.
