An Inside Look at Estelle Parsons and Stephen Spinella in The Velocity of Autumn at Arena Stage

Parsons and Spinella prepare for their return to Broadway with a regional run in Washington, D.C.

Academy Award winner and four-time Tony nominee Estelle Parsons (Nice Work If You Can Get It) and two-time Tony Award winner Stephen Spinella (Spring Awakening) are currently starring in Eric Coble’s two-character play The Velocity of Autumn, running at Washington, D.C.’s Arena Stage through October 20.

Set to come to Broadway in spring 2014, the play takes place in a Brooklyn brownstone where 79-year-old Alexandra (Parsons) cohabits with a large collection of explosives. Her long-absent son (Spinella) comes onto the scene to try to save his mother from harm. The ensuing events reveal both the fragility and ferocity of life.
