Kelli O'Hara, Laura Benanti, and Jessie Mueller Serenade Tom Hanks at Kennedy Center

They can take his medal, but no one can take this performance away from the new Kennedy Center Honoree.

Two-time Oscar winner and Tony-nominated Broadway vet Tom Hanks (Lucky Guy) is now the proud owner of a rainbow-ribboned medal as one of this year's Kennedy Center Honorees. The ceremony, which was held in Washington, D.C. on December 7, was broadcast yesterday evening on CBS and featured a tribute performance by three of Broadway's loveliest leading ladies.

Kelli O'Hara (The King and I), Laura Benanti (Gypsy), and Jessie Mueller (Beautiful) performed their own special rendition of George and Ira Gershwin's "They Can't Take That Away From Me," extolling Hanks' noblest virtues while simultaneously debunking the myth of a star-power-induced apocalypse if ever their immaculate voices joined in harmony.
