Loosely based on the true story of Annie Oakley, Annie Get Your Gun follows America's greatest female sharpshooter on her journey from backwoods hunter to the star of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. However, Annie's rise to fame is not without price, and while replacing dashing shooting ace Frank Butler as the star attraction is good for business, romance is another story.
With showstopping numbers including "I Got the Sun in the Morning" and "Anything You Can Do," Irving Berlin's greatest theatrical achievement will have the entire family understanding why "There's No Business Like Show Business."
A beguiling new musical version of E.B. White's beloved classic story about Wilbur, the little pig who becomes famous with the help of his clever spider friend Charlotte. With music and lyrics by Broadway composer Charles Strouse (Annie, Bye Bye Birdie) and a book by national award-winning children's playwright Joseph Robinette, audiences will thrill to a musical score which includes "Eating," Wilbur's humorous yet poignant song about growing up; "Who Says We Can't Be Friends?," an enchanting duet between Wilbur and Charlotte; "Welcome to the Zuckerman Barn," featuring all the story's unforgettable animals in a hand-clapping, toe-tapping hoe-down; and "Summer," a haunting, nostalgic chorus number which evokes a time and place from everyone's childhood. With its lessons of friendship, loyalty, and truth, Charlotte's Web is a gift for audiences of all ages.
A sudden change of fortune leaves wealthy Sara Crewe alone and penniless in the cold of a London winter. When her friends at Miss Minchin's School for Girls turn into taunting enemies — and Miss Minchin's greedy expectations of her "star pupil" turn into bitter rage — Sara must draw upon her incredible power of imagination, her clever wit, and her brave and generous heart to sustain her. But will they be enough? The magical answer is certain to surprise and delight in this original musical dramatization of the beloved novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett that has inspired several films, including the 1939 version with Miss Shirley Temple!
She's back!! After a sold-out run at the Cauldron in 2014, we welcome back everyone's favorite precocious little Parisian. "In an old house in Paris, covered in vines, lived 12 little girls in two straight lines." And with that familiar phrase, author and illustrator Ludwig Bemelmans sets in motion the adventures of the brave and resourceful Madeline. In this musical adaptation, Madeline's schoolmates and tutor are all sick in bed on Christmas Eve, unable to go home for Christmas to be with their families. So it's Madeline to the rescue! And with the help of a magical rug merchant, she takes her friends on a Christmas journey they will never forget.
For ages 5+. Keeping with the "Alden on the Move" theme, our first children's performance this fall is reminiscent of a time when actors didn't have theaters to perform in, so they traveled from town to town with only what and whom could fit in their wagon. DuffleBag Theatre's performance of Peter Pan will whisk you off to Neverland with only the set, props, and costumes they brought in their trunk. If four actors aren't enough to tell the story, some of McLean's youngest residents might even get cast in the show!
