Javier Muñoz, who serves as Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda's alternate in the hit musical, recently revealed to the New York Post that he has been diagnosed with cancer.

Muñoz did not give any information about the type of cancer but did tell the Post that he has been undergoing treatment.

Muñoz, who also took over the role of Usnavi in Miranda's In the Heights, regularly plays the role of Hamilton at Sunday matinees of the show.

During treatments he has occasionally had his performances covered by Miranda or Jon Rua.
