After months of waiting, Hairspray Live! finally hits the small screen this Wednesday, December 7, on NBC at 8/7c. To celebrate the next incarnation of John Waters' beloved 1988 film, we're flashing back to the musical's earliest days on the Great White Way.

Marissa Jaret Winokur had not yet won her Tony for her role as Tracy Turnblad and Matthew Morrison was still waiting for the Glee train to arrive when he starred as heartthrob Link Larkin. But both were up bright and early to perform Hairspray's closing number for Katie Couric and the audience at Today, singing and dancing alongside Broadway powerhouses Kerry Butler, Laura Bell Bundy, and more.

Take a stroll down memory lane back to 2002 and see if you can stop the beat when you watch them break it down like it's 1962.
