Lindsay Mendez, Celia Keenan-Bolger, and Adrienne Warren have also been added to the lineup.
The New York Civil Liberties Union and American Civil Liberties Union announced today the lineup for their annual benefit concert, Broadway Stands Up for Freedom. The event will take place July 17 at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.
This year's lineup of songwriters and performers includes Chris Jackson (Hamilton), Gavin Creel (Hello, Dolly!), Lindsay Mendez (Wicked), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Les Misérables), Michael Friedman (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Adrienne Warren (Shuffle Along), Andréa Burns (On Your Feet!), Georgia Stitt (Little Shop of Horrors), Nathan Tysen (Amélie), musical duo Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk, Jenni Barber (Sundays in the Park With George), Andrew Kober (Sunday in the Park With George), Shaina Taub (As You Like It), Liana Stampur, and Clinton Curtis.
Susan Blackwell will return as host. Also returning are directors Peter Flynn and Daniel Goldstein. Kurt Crowley will serve as music director. Proceeds from the show will benefit the NYCLU’s mission to promote and protect the civil rights and liberties of all New Yorkers.
In conjunction with the concert, the NYCLU launched a songwriting contest titled "Songs of Freedom: Music for the People, by the People," which invites songwriters from across the country to express their passion for civil liberties through music. The submitters' songs and talents will be judged by a panel that includes members of Broadway casts and creative teams.
