Casting has been announced for Soho Repertory Theatre’s production of Annie Baker’s adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, to run June 7-July 15. Sam Gold will direct the production.
In addition to Reed Birney in the title role, the cast will include Michael Shannon (Astrov), Merritt Wever (Sonia), Maria Dizzia (Yelena), Peter Friedman (Serebryakov), Georgia Engel (Marina), and Matthew Maher, Paul Thureen and Rebecca Schull.
The production features set design by Andrew Lieberman, costume design by Baker, lighting design by Mark Barton, and sound design by Matt Tierney.
Baker’s plays include Circle Mirror Transformation and The Aliens, both of which were directed by Gold. His many other directorial credits include Seminar, Look Back in Anger, and The Big Meal.
