The lineup has been announced for Vassar College and New York Stage and Film’s annual collaboration.
Vassar and New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse Theater has announced its 31st season of productions and readings at Vassar College.
The mainstage season will include Keith Bunin's The Unbuilt City, directed by Sean Mathias (July 1-12), and the Debate Society's The Light Years, written by Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen, with development and direction by Oliver Butler (July 23-August 2).
Musical workshops will include Rain, a new piece by Giant collaborators Michael John LaChiusa and Sybille Pearson, inspired by the short story of the same title by Somerset Maugham, directed by Barry Eldestein (July 10-12); Marcus Gardley, Justin Ellington, and Patricia McGregor's Loving V. Virginia (July 17-19); and Duncan Sheik and Kyle Jarrow's Noir, directed by Rachel Chavkin (July 31-August 2).
Inside Look Play Workshops include Desire, six new plays, under Michael Wilson's direction, by Elizabeth Egloff, Marcus Gardley, Rebecca Gilman, David Grimm, John Guare, and Beth Henley that are inspired by the short stories of Tennessee Williams (July 2-5); and Anna Ziegler's The Last Match, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch (July 17-19).
Readings this season will include Junk by Ayad Akhtar, a boy put this girl in a cage with a dog and the dog killed the girl by Clare Barron, The Dizzy Little Dance of Russell DiFinaldi by Stephen Belber, The Profane by Zayd Dohrn, 15 Minutes, a new musical by Stephen Trask, Peter Yanowitz, and Rick Elice, The Brother(s) by Colman Domingo, Paul Scott Goodman and Joseph Hendel's Open Road, Meghan Kennedy's Talk to Me of Love, and Nicky Silver's White Noise, White Light.
