2015's Summer Shorts Festival Opens at 59E59 Theaters

The annual festival of one-act plays runs through August 29 with works by Neil LaBute, Lucy Thurber, and more.

The 2015 Summer Shorts festival celebrated its run at 59E59 Theaters with a party on August 10 at Bar Fogo. The annual festival kicked off performances July 17 and will close on August 29.

Series A includes three plays: 10K, written and directed by Neil LaBute and featuring Clea Alsip (Stage Kiss) and J.J. Kandel (Zero Dark Thirty); The Sentinels, written by Matthew Lopez, directed by Stephen Brackett, and featuring Zuzanna Szadkowski (Gossip Girl), Michelle Beck (The Bridge Project), Meg Gibson (Slipping) and Kellie Overbey (Rapture, Blister, Burn); and Glenburn 12 WP, written by Vickie Ramirez, directed by Kel Haney, and featuring W. Tre Davis (Zooman and the Sign) and Tanis Parenteau (The Way They Live).

Series B offers three additional works: Built, written and directed by Robert O'Hara and featuring Justin Bernegger (The Frogs) and Merritt Janson (House for Sale); Love Letters to a Dictator, written by Stella Fawn Ragsdale, directed by Logan Vaughn, and featuring Colby Minifie (Punk Rock); and Unstuck, written by Lucy Thurber, directed by Laura Savia, and featuring Lauren Blumenfeld (The Assembled Parties), K.K. Moggie (Grace), Alfredo Narciso (Edgewise), and Carmen Zilles (Scenes From a Marriage).
