The concert of the musical favorite will also star Tony Yazbeck and Laura Osnes.
30 Rock vets Rachel Dratch and Jack McBrayer have joined the cast of Crazy for You, a one-night-only presentation of Manhattan Concert Productions. The 25th anniversary concert of the Tony-winning Gershwin musical will take place at David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center on February 19.
Dratch, whose TV credits also include Saturday Night Live and stage roles in Love’s Labours Lost and Privacy, and McBrayer, who played Kenneth on 30 Rock, will appear in the show as British tourists Patricia and Eugene Fodor. They join a cast that includes Tony Yazbeck (Finding Neverland) and Laura Osnes (Bandstand), who will costar as Bobby Child and Polly Baker, and original cast member Harry Groener, who will take on the role of Bela Zangler.
Five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman, who won a Tony Award for choreographing the show’s original production, will direct. Further cast and creative team announcements will follow at a later date. The concert will also welcome a chorus of 240 singers from across the United States, a professional cast and creative team, and the enlarged forces of the New York City Chamber Orchestra.
With music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, and book by Ken Ludwig, the romantic comedy follows Bobby Child, a banker who dreams of dancing in the follies. When he’s sent to foreclose on a rundown theater in Nevada, he meets Polly Baker, the daughter of the theater’s owner, who has vowed to get even. Harry Groener and Jodi Benson led the cast of the original production.
