Rufus Bonds Jr. stars as Don Quixote.
Performances of Man of La Mancha begin tonight at 5th Avenue Theatre.
Inspired by Cervantes' novel Don Quixote, Man of La Mancha enters the mind and world of the mad knight Don Quixote as he pursues his quest for the impossible dream. In a tale told by Cervantes himself in defense of his life’s work, Quixote is, against all odds, a man who sees good and innocence in a world filled with darkness and despair.
Dale Wasserman wrote the book for Man of La Mancha with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion. Allison Narver directs.
The cast is led by Rufus Bonds Jr. as Don Quixote. He is joined by Nova Payton (Aldonza), Don Darryl Rivera (Sancho), Eric Ankrim (Duke Carrasco), Marlette Buchanan (Maria/Housekeeper), Nick Desantis (Padre), Lauren Du Pree (Antonia), Allen Fitzpatrick (The Governor/Innkeeper), Jose J. Gonzales (The Barber), Brandon O'Neill (Pedro), David Quicksall (Captain of the Inquisition), Skizzo Arnedillo Arteaga (Jose), Sarah Rose Davis (Fermina), Eric Esteb (Juan), Wilson Mendieta (Tenorio), Richard Peacock (Quito), Steven Sofia (Paco), and Dane Stokiner (Anselmo). Jade Solomon Curtis, Davione Gordon, Maisha Mercee, and Annie Morro round out the ensemble.
Performances run through October 30.
