The American Theatre Wing and the Broadway League have announced that the 76th Annual Tony Awards will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2023, and will move to a venue uptown. Rather than its usual midtown home at Radio City Music Hall, the ceremony will be broadcast live from the United Palace in Washington Heights. The show will air on CBS, and will stream live and on demand on Paramount Plus.

“We are excited to bring the Tony Awards to the historic United Palace for the first time,” said Heather Hitchens (president and CEO of the American Theatre Wing) and Charlotte St. Martin (president of the Broadway League) in a joint statement. “As we celebrate the best of this Broadway season and 76 years of the Tony Awards, we look forward to ushering in a new golden age for the show from this majestic, golden age theatre.”

Built in 1930 as one of Loew’s “Wonder Theatres,” the United Palace became a premier vaudeville and movie house. With more than 3,000 seats, it remains the fourth-largest venue of its kind in Manhattan.

The Tony Awards eligibility cut-off date for the 2022-23 Broadway season is Thursday, April 27, 2023, with nominations set to be announced on Tuesday, May 2. Additional details about the 2023 Tony Awards ceremony, including the evening’s host, will be announced in the coming months.
