Things were hopping at Tavern on the Green last night as the cast and company of the Lincoln Center Theater production of The Frogs celebrated the show’s opening. Among the celebrants was Nathan Lane, who stars in the show and also adapted the book of the Stephen Sondheim/Burt Shevelove musical based on the classic comedy by Aristophanes. Here, Lane is pictured with co-star Roger Bart and the show’s director-choreographer, Susan Stroman.
Also on hand for the Dionysian revels: Burke Moses and Peter Bartlett, who play Herakles and Pluto in the The Frogs…

…Michael Siberry, who plays William Shakespeare…
…Daniel Davis, who plays George Bernard Shaw, posing here with Stroman…
…and John Byner, who plays Charon and Aeakos, posing here with his wife, actress Annie Gaybis.
We’re not exactly sure what’s being said here but we can only guess that Stroman is expressing her appreciation to Bart, who took over the role of Xanthias from Chris Kattan on very short notice last week.
We leave you with this group shot of a bunch of adorable frogs. Unable to attend last night’s party was Aristophanes, who croaked — err, died in 380 B.C.
