The Boston cast performs the newest version of the Stephen Schwartz musical, featuring additional numbers by Tony-winning rap artist Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Pulitzer Prize-winning author Studs Terkel's oral history is on display at Boston's Lyric Stage Company in Stephen Schwartz's musical adaptation, Working. The Tony-nominated score, revamped since its 1978 Broadway debut, features songs by Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin), Craig Carnelia (Sweet Smell of Success), Micki Grant (Your Arms Too Short to Box With God), Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights), Mary Rodgers (Once Upon a Mattress) and Susan Birkenhead (High Society), and James Taylor.
Working explores the hopes, dreams, joys, and concerns of the average working American by following a group of these "ordinary" people through one 24-hour workday. Take a look at the Boston company in action, as they perform the musical's most recent incarnation.
