Five years ago today, the all-star quartet comprised of Tony Award-nominated book writer Hunter Bell, composer Jeff Bowen, Heidi Blickenstaff, and Susan Blackwell celebrated the Broadway opening of their original musical [title of show] at the Lyceum Theater.

[title of show], which follows the four artists as they write a musical to submit to the New York Musical Theatre Festival, premiered at that festival in 2004 (its inaugural year). Appropriately, this landmark anniversary falls in the midst of NYMF’s 10th season, where Blackwell is now performing in another up-and-coming musical, Volleygirls…It all comes full circle.

To mark the occasion, relive the era of [title of show] with these two videos: a montage of the Broadway production and video footage of the four Bs singing “Nine People’s Favorite Thing” during one of their early workshops at the Waterford, CT Eugene O’Neill Theater Center (or as Blackwell fondly referred to it, the “Shaquille O’Neal Center”).

Happy tosiversary!
