Halpin takes over the role from Will Reynolds.
Adam Halpin (Glory Days) has been announced to star in the new musical Daddy Long Legs, alongside his wife, Megan McGinnis (Side Show). He takes over the role on November 20, with the couple set to appear together onstage at the Davenport Theatre through February 2016.
Halpin takes over for Will Reynolds (Mamma Mia! national tour), who currently plays the title role. Reynolds made his debut on October 29, replacing Paul Alexander Nolan (Doctor Zhivago), and will continue to appear through November 19.
With book and direction by Tony Award winner John Caird (Les Misérables), Daddy Long Legs features a score by Tony nominee Paul Gordon. It also features scenic and costume design by David Farley, and lighting design by Paul Toben. The show is inspired by a 1912 novel by Jean Webster. It tells the story of Jerusha Abbott (McGinnis), an orphan who gets a college education from an anonymous benefactor whom she nicknames Daddy Long Legs.
Daddy Long Legs premiered at the Rubicon Theatre Company in Los Angeles in 2009 and received Ovation Awards for Best Music and Lyrics and for McGinnis' performance. She also received an Indy Award and an Acclaim Award for her work in the show in productions across the United States.
