A comedy thriller opens the Texas theater’s summer season tonight.
Agatha Christie's Spider's Web opens tonight at the Alley Theatre in Houston. Performances run through August 14 in the Hubbard Theatre.
Kicking off the summer season, the comic whodunit features Alley Company Members Jeffrey Bean as Sir Rowland Delahaye, John Tyson as Hugo Birch, Jay Sullivan as Jeremy Warrender, Josie de Guzman as Clarissa Hailsham-Brown, Todd Waite as Elgin, and Paul Hope as Henry Hailsham-Brown.
Rounding out the cast are Michael Brusasco as Oliver Costello, John Feltch as Inspector Lord, McKenna Marmolejo as Pippa Hailsham-Brown, Margaret Daly as Mildred Peake, and Trace Pool as Constable Jones.
Spider's Web is set at the English countryside home of Henry and Clarissa Hailsham-Brown. Clarissa, the second wife of Henry Hailsham Brown, is adept at spinning tales of adventure for her bored diplomatic circle. When a murder takes place in her drawing room, she finds real life much harder to cope with. Clarissa's fast talking places her in hair-raising situations, as she comes to learn that the facts are much more exciting than fiction.
Directed by Gregory Boyd, the production features scenic design by Linda Buchanan, costume design by Tricia Barsamian, lighting design by Michael Lincoln, and sound design by Joe Pino.
